e-Exam Symposium 2018: A national roll out of e-exams for high stakes Matriculation (session 4)

e-Exam Symposium 24 Nov 2018: Session 4

Presenter: Thomas Vikberg (Matriculation Examination Board, Finland)

This session explores Finland's national roll out of e-Exams for high school matriculation (university entrance). The discussion covers the motivation for a move to e-exams, the approach and the roll out schedule. The approach used in Finland enables the controlled use of student's laptops and authentic software tools to be utilised along side structured response questions in simultaneous examinations that are held at numerous schools across the country. The scalability of the approach was demonstrated in that in the first half of 2018, over 47,000 Live Linux USBs were prepared and sent out across the country.

Hosted by Professor Geoff Crisp, University of New South Wales and Dr Mathew Hillier, Monash University. Duration 30 minutes.
