8 June 2010: Assessment of capstone courses

Margot McNeill (Macquarie University, Australia) explored two case studies of capstone courses at Macquarie University, Australia which used a range of technologies to support and assess complex learning in different domains.

The featured capstone courses were for 'Bachelor of Computer science / Information Systems' and 'Masters in Early Childhood Education'.

Capstone courses provide an opportunity for students to integrate the knowledge and learning experiences from their whole degree program, but the task of designing learning and assessment activities can be challenging. The issues explored include considerations for designing capstone units, addressing learning outcomes, scaffolding assessment strategies and the affordances of using technologies.

This event was hosted by University of Adelaide, Australia and started at 4.30pm CST [duration: 1 hour and 40 minutes].
