4 September 2013: Analytics of student interactions with electronic feedback using UQmarkup

This session explored UQMarkUp, a new computer based assessment, feedback and analytics platform that is designed to embrace an academic's natural workflow. It leverages emerging technologies to extend the range of feedback options and thereby encourage richer and timely responses to submitted student work. Academics are able to provide a range of simple mark-ups such as digital handwriting, freehand drawing, highlighting, keyboard text annotation, as well as record audio comments that are saved in-context within student submitted work. Work can be electronically returned in-bulk to students who then access their individual feedback via a platform agnostic web interface. Individual student and cohort interactions with each element of feedback can be tracked and a range of analytics produced such as access frequency, duration, heat maps, and identification of repeated access to particular portions of each audio comment. Statistics about the type, duration and nature of comments made by markers and marking teams can also be produced.
